The Van Morrison Alumni Band

A jazz concert by The Van Morrison Alumni Band, a group of musicians who toured and recorded with Van Morrison, performing that songbook at the Emerald Theatre on Victoria Embankment in London.

The Van Morrison Alumni Band is a jazz group that performs the songs of Van Morrison, whose catalogue blends rock, jazz, R&B and Celtic folk. The members are musicians who toured and recorded with Van Morrison, and the programme draws on both well-known hits and deeper album tracks. Van Morrison does not take part; the evening is a celebration of the songs by the people who played them alongside the songwriter. Leo Green leads the band.

The concert is aimed at listeners who want to hear Van Morrison's music performed by players who lived it on the road and in the studio, with the emphasis on the rhythm, the soul and the melodies of the songs. The band's own description presents the evening as a sound built from those years of shared performance rather than a reinterpretation by new arrivals.

The concert takes place at the Emerald Theatre, a theatre at 8 Victoria Embankment in London.
