2-DAY TICKET - The String Cheese Incident: Just Keep Spinning Tour

A multi-act concert at the Fox Theater in Oakland, bringing together the jam band The String Cheese Incident, the rock trio Primus, the Grateful Dead tribute Dark Star Orchestra and Day Ticket. The tour is titled Just Keep Spinning.

The String Cheese Incident is a jam band formed in Colorado in the 1990s. Its music blends bluegrass, rock, funk and improvisation, and its live shows are built around extended instrumental passages rather than fixed arrangements. The band has long been associated with the jam scene that grew out of the Grateful Dead's audience.

Primus is a San Francisco trio led by bassist and vocalist Les Claypool, formed in 1984. Its funk-inflected, angular rock drew on the Bay Area underground and reached a wide audience in the early 1990s with albums such as Sailing the Seas of Cheese. Dark Star Orchestra is a tribute act that performs the Grateful Dead's repertoire from concert recordings; it is not the Grateful Dead. Day Ticket also appears on this bill.

The Fox Theater is a concert and show venue in downtown Oakland. The evening suits listeners who follow jam, rock and Grateful Dead-related music, and it offers a single bill that moves from improvised jam to Primus's heavier, more idiosyncratic sound.
