Dead Man's Party (Tribute to Oingo Boingo + Danny Elfman)

A tribute evening devoted to Oingo Boingo, the Los Angeles band led by Danny Elfman, presented at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood. The project is a tribute act, not the original band.

Oingo Boingo was a Los Angeles band formed in the late 1970s and active until 1995, with Danny Elfman as its main songwriter and lead vocalist. Its mix of new wave, rock and theatrical stage presentation led to a loyal following. Elfman later became a film composer, writing scores for Batman (1989) and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), which links the band's history to a wider audience.

Dead Man's Party is a pop, rock and indie project that pays tribute to Oingo Boingo's catalogue. The title echoes Oingo Boingo's 1985 album Dead Man's Party. The Danny Elfman reference in the program signals the same songwriting that shaped the band's sound and his later film work.

Whisky A Go Go is a club on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood that has hosted concerts and shows since 1964. The evening suits listeners who know Oingo Boingo's records and fans of Elfman's film music who want to hear the band's songs performed live.
