Dweezil Zappa DZ20: Like Father, Like Son

A rock concert by guitarist Dweezil Zappa at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, part of the DZ20 program titled Like Father, Like Son. The evening centers on the guitar work of an artist with roots in Los Angeles rock.

Dweezil Zappa is an American rock and psychedelic rock guitarist, born in 1969 in Los Angeles. The artist made their debut in 1986, the same year they released "Havin'a Bad Day" on Zappa Records. The title of this show, Like Father, Like Son, points to the family lineage: Dweezil Zappa is the son of composer Frank Zappa, and the DZ20 name marks this program as part of Dweezil's own series.

The music is guitar-led rock with psychedelic colorings, drawing on the same tradition of inventive, technically demanding playing that the title invokes. Listeners who follow rock guitar and the Zappa legacy will find the focus clear from the program's name.

The concert takes place at the Orpheum Theatre, a Los Angeles venue that hosts concerts and shows. Its programming covers both music and stage productions, so the evening is best matched to those already interested in live rock performance.
