French Macaron - Chicago

A two-hour hands-on workshop in Chicago where participants learn to make French macarons, the meringue-based sandwich cookies, with step-by-step guidance from a chef.

This hands-on workshop teaches participants to make French macarons, the meringue-based sandwich cookies. A chef guides the group through each stage in order: mixing the meringue, piping the shells, baking, assembling the cookies and, at the end, tasting them. The approach is meant to show that the method can be repeated in a home kitchen.

Along the way, the session looks at several flavor profiles and filling variations, so each cookie can be personalized. The class lasts two hours and focuses on the technique behind the cookie, from the meringue to the final filling.

The workshop suits people interested in pastry who want a practical introduction with a chef, held at Gateway To Learning in Chicago.
