A Night with The Music of Oscar Peterson

A jazz tribute evening devoted to the music of Oscar Peterson, the Canadian pianist whose trio recordings shaped the piano trio tradition. The show takes place at Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood.

A Night with The Music of Oscar Peterson is a jazz tribute program built around the repertoire of Oscar Peterson, the Canadian pianist born in Montreal in 1925 who died in 2007. Peterson led the Oscar Peterson Trio for decades, most often with bassist Ray Brown, and recorded widely across bebop, blues and standards. This evening honors his music; it is not a performance by Peterson himself.

The program draws on Peterson's catalog for listeners who follow the piano trio format he helped define. Among the albums associated with his trio is Night Train, on which Peterson worked with Ray Brown, a recording that remains a common reference point for trio jazz.

The concert takes place at Catalina Jazz Club, which hosts concerts and shows in Hollywood. It suits anyone interested in mainstream jazz piano and in the work of one of its most documented figures.
