David Murray Quartet feat. Francesca Cinelli

A jazz evening led by the David Murray Quartet, with saxophonist David Murray and guest Francesca Cinelli, at Blue Note Los Angeles.

David Murray is an American tenor saxophonist and bandleader who came up in the New York loft jazz scene of the 1970s. He co-founded the World Saxophone Quartet with Oliver Lake, Hamiet Bluiett and Julius Hemphill, and has since led his own groups, including the David Murray Quartet, which carries his name in this program. The quartet draws on the tradition of post-bop and free-leaning jazz that his career has followed.

Francesca Cinelli is featured alongside the quartet on this program, so the evening is a meeting between the bandleader's ensemble and a guest artist rather than a solo recital by Murray.

Blue Note Los Angeles is a jazz club in the Blue Note network, which presents live jazz and other concerts and shows in Los Angeles. The evening suits listeners who follow modern jazz and saxophone-led small groups.
