JD McPherson is an American singer-songwriter and band leader from Oklahoma. The project's music draws on early rock and roll, rhythm and blues and rockabilly, filtered through an indie rock sensibility. The debut album, Signs & Signifiers, was released in 2012 and set the template for a sound rooted in the 1950s.

Melissa Carper is also on the bill. Bimbo's 365 Club is a San Francisco venue that hosts concerts and shows, and this evening is one of its rock programs.

The night suits listeners who follow roots rock, rockabilly and retro-leaning indie rock, and anyone interested in how a mid-century sound can be rebuilt with contemporary songwriting. It is a practical choice for a San Francisco evening out, with a live show built around guitar-driven songs and a band format.
