MARVIN - The Marvin Gaye Musical

A stage musical built around the life and music of Marvin Gaye, presented at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago. It is a theater production, not a concert by the artist it honors.

Marvin Gaye was an American singer and songwriter who recorded for Motown in Detroit from the early 1960s. Among the best-known records are "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," released in 1968, the 1971 album What's Going On, a concept album on war, poverty and social injustice, and "Let's Get It On," the 1973 title track of an album that became one of the defining records of 1970s soul.

MARVIN - The Marvin Gaye Musical is a stage musical about that career and those recordings. Marvin Gaye is the subject of the show, not a performer in it, so the production is a portrayal of the artist and his songs rather than a concert by the original singer.

The Arie Crown Theater, on the McCormick Place campus, hosts concerts and shows in Chicago. The production suits listeners who know the Motown catalog and theatergoers interested in biographical musicals about soul artists.
