Mohini Dey is a jazz act, and this concert brings the project to Blue Note Los Angeles. Jazz grew out of New Orleans in the early twentieth century, where ragtime, blues and brass band traditions converged. Its core is improvisation over song forms drawn from swing, blues and the American standards repertoire.

Blue Note Los Angeles hosts concerts and shows in Los Angeles. Jazz has been part of the city's live music scene since the mid-twentieth century, when clubs on Central Avenue hosted many of its leading musicians, so the evening suits listeners interested in hearing jazz performed live here.
