Richard Thompson & Band

Richard Thompson & Band brings the British singer-songwriter and guitarist's group to The Castro Theatre in San Francisco, in a program listed under pop, rock and indie.

Richard Thompson is a British rock singer-songwriter born in London in 1949 and active since 1967. Their work has been released on Island Records. Thompson was a founding member of the folk-rock group Fairport Convention, formed in 1967, before building a solo career. The album Shoot Out the Lights (1982), recorded with Linda Thompson, is among the most widely cited records of that period. The songwriting blends British folk melody with electric guitar-driven rock.

This concert is presented as Richard Thompson & Band, with Clayton Linthicum and Quinn Bachand appearing alongside Thompson in the group. The evening centers on the songs of Thompson's catalog, performed by the band on stage.

The Castro Theatre is a movie palace that opened in 1922 in San Francisco's Castro district. It hosts concerts and shows, and its historic auditorium suits audiences who follow singer-songwriter and rock repertoire from the British folk-rock tradition.
