Richard Thompson is a British rock singer-songwriter born in London in 1949, active since 1967, with work released on Island Records. Thompson first came to prominence as a guitarist and songwriter with the folk-rock group Fairport Convention, formed in 1967, before developing a solo catalog. A widely cited record is Shoot Out the Lights (1982), recorded with Linda Thompson, and the songs generally combine British folk roots with electric rock guitar.

The billing presents Richard Thompson & Band, with Clayton Linthicum and Quinn Bachand listed alongside the artist. The concert sits in the pop, rock and indie part of the spectrum, so it suits listeners who follow rock songwriting and Thompson's long career.
