Tango with Winnie Quintet

A world music concert by the Winnie Quintet built around tango, presented at The CheckOut, a Chicago venue for concerts and shows.

Tango with Winnie Quintet is a world music concert by the Winnie Quintet, with tango as its focus. Tango took shape in the port districts of Buenos Aires and Montevideo at the end of the nineteenth century, blending rhythms brought by European and African-descended communities into a dance music that later spread across the world. That tradition is the thread of this program.

The CheckOut, the venue for this concert, hosts concerts and shows in Chicago, placing live music within the city's cultural calendar.

The evening suits listeners drawn to tango and to world music ensembles who want a live performance centered on the genre, presented by a group that takes its name from the quintet format.
