Shara Maxwell

Shara Maxwell, a jazz act, performs at The CheckOut in Chicago, a venue that hosts concerts and shows.

Shara Maxwell is a jazz act, and jazz is a tradition built on improvisation over harmonic structures, drawing on blues, swing and bebop roots that developed in American cities from the early twentieth century onward. Improvisation is central to the style, with performers taking solos over a shared rhythm section and chord progression.

The CheckOut is a Chicago venue that hosts concerts and shows, placing this jazz performance among the city's live music offerings. Chicago has a long jazz history, including the 1920s recordings of Louis Armstrong with King Oliver's band.
