The Burning Doors

A tribute act built around the songs of The Doors, the Los Angeles rock band formed in 1965, performing at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood. The Burning Doors are a tribute, not the original group.

The Doors formed in Los Angeles in 1965 with Jim Morrison on vocals, Ray Manzarek on keyboards, Robby Krieger on guitar and John Densmore on drums. Their best-known songs include "Light My Fire," "Break On Through (To the Other Side)" and "Riders on the Storm." The band drew on blues and jazz and on Morrison's poetic lyrics, and it was active until 1973. The Burning Doors pay homage to that catalogue; they are a tribute act, and the original band is not part of this show.

Whisky A Go Go hosts concerts and shows on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The Doors played there in 1966 as its house band, which gives the venue a direct link to the group whose music this evening revisits. The night suits listeners who want to hear the Doors repertoire performed live, along with fans of the psychedelic and blues-rooted rock that shaped Los Angeles music in the 1960s.
