@, Wendy Eisenberg

A concert at Zebulon in Los Angeles that pairs the duo @, made up of songwriters Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak, with the American singer-songwriter Wendy Eisenberg.

The bill brings together @, a duo of songwriters Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak, and Wendy Eisenberg, an American singer-songwriter born in 1991. Victoria and Stone met through the East Coast house-show circuit and both come from the D.I.Y. music scene, with earlier work in basement shows, warehouses and all-ages spaces. Their songs alternate between the two writers, each one filling gaps in the other's compositions, and the project began as a long-distance collaboration.

Their debut album, Mind Palace Music, reached a far wider audience online than the pair had expected. Their newer album, Autosmile, is their first release on the indie label 4AD, and it reworks psychedelic folk into a contemporary sound. Before that debut, the two had never played live or sung harmony together in person. Since then they have learned to rehearse as a band, perform for audiences of different sizes and sing together in the same room, and their stage work includes humorous, absurdist guitar solos.

Wendy Eisenberg released the debut album Collected Early Works in 2015. Zebulon hosts concerts and shows in Los Angeles, and this evening's program places pop, rock and indie music side by side.
