Thelma

Thelma is a new musical based on the film Thelma & Louise, with a book by Callie Khouri and music and lyrics by Neko Case, staged at the Young Vic in London.

Thelma is a stage musical that reimagines the road movie Thelma & Louise. Writer Callie Khouri, who wrote the original film, adapts her story for the stage. The production follows Louise, played by Rachel Tucker, and her best friend Thelma, played by Amy Lennox, who set out on a spontaneous weekend away that becomes a last-chance journey after an encounter at a roadside honkytonk. The music and lyrics are by Neko Case, a Grammy-nominated artist, and the production is directed by Trip Cullman.

The listing also names Thelma Houston, a soul singer born in 1946 in Leland, Mississippi. Her song Don't Leave Me This Way was released in 1977. She is listed as the artist for this title, but the cast named here is the one for the musical.

The show is presented at the Young Vic, which hosts concerts and shows in London.
