Overview
A jazz evening in Evanston built around A Charlie Brown Christmas, with The Commercialists also on the program, presented at Space, a venue for concerts and shows.
The program centers on A Charlie Brown Christmas, the jazz score Vince Guaraldi composed for the 1965 animated television special based on Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strip. Guaraldi, a San Francisco pianist, recorded the soundtrack with his trio, and its best-known piece, "Linus and Lucy," has become a widely played holiday standard.
The Commercialists share the bill. The evening is presented at Space, which hosts concerts and shows in Evanston.
The night suits listeners who know the Peanuts special and anyone interested in holiday jazz, particularly the swing-tinged, piano-led style of Guaraldi's soundtrack.
