NLM Presents: Inheritance: Chen Yi World Premiere

A world premiere of Inheritance by composer Chen Yi, presented as part of the NLM Presents series at The CheckOut in Chicago. The concert is a first hearing of a newly written work.

Chen Yi is a composer whose work combines Chinese musical traditions with Western concert forms, and who has taught composition at the UMKC Conservatory in Kansas City. This program presents the world premiere of Inheritance, a new piece by Chen Yi, under the NLM Presents title.

For listeners, the evening centers on a work heard for the first time. Those following contemporary classical music and new composition will find the subject direct: a premiere that brings together Chinese and Western musical idioms in a single new score.

The CheckOut is a Chicago venue that hosts concerts and shows, and this event is one of the performances it presents.
