The Jazz Room: A Journey to the Heart of New Orleans follows the roots of jazz back to New Orleans, the city where the genre developed. The program combines carefully chosen classic pieces with spontaneous improvisation, so the set list tunes give way to passages where the players take the music in new directions.

The performers are jazz musicians and vocalists. Their instruments include the saxophone and the trumpet, along with other jazz instruments. The evening suits listeners who want to hear the traditional roots of the genre played live, with an emphasis on the free spirit of improvisation.

The show takes place inside Joe's Clock Shop, at The Palace Theater, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in San Francisco. The room is set in a chic bar. Booths and seats on House Left and House Right are ADA accessible.
