The Jazz Room: Marvin Gaye in a Night of Soul

A live tribute concert devoted to Marvin Gaye, the American soul singer, presented at The Palace Theater in San Francisco by The Jazz Room. The evening is a homage, and the songs are performed by a band rather than by Gaye.

This production is a tribute to Marvin Gaye, the American soul singer who recorded for Motown. Among the records that form the core of Gaye's catalog are What's Going On (1971) and Let's Get It On (1973). The Jazz Room builds the evening around the singer's greatest hits, which a live band reinterprets on stage.

The music belongs to R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, and the program also looks at Gaye's influence on music, culture and society. Drinks are part of the format, so the night suits listeners who want to hear this repertoire performed live rather than on recordings.

The Palace Theater hosts concerts and shows in San Francisco, and this tribute is one of its evenings of live music.
