Dark Star Orchestra

Dark Star Orchestra is a rock tribute act that performs the music of the Grateful Dead. This Los Angeles concert takes place at The Wiltern.

Dark Star Orchestra is a tribute act devoted to the music of the Grateful Dead, the San Francisco band that emerged in the 1960s and became a central name in American jam-based rock. The group does not perform its own songs. It recreates complete Grateful Dead concerts, rebuilding the song selection, sequence and improvisation of specific past shows, with the Dead's extended jams and song suites at the core of the repertoire.

Live, the act performs as an ensemble that aims for faithful reconstruction rather than new arrangements. The evening is a tribute to the Grateful Dead and not a performance by the original band, and the program follows the structure of the historical concert it recreates.

The Wiltern is a Los Angeles venue that hosts concerts and shows. The night suits listeners who follow the Grateful Dead catalog or the long-form improvisational rock tradition that grew out of it.
