Nutcracker

A staging of The Nutcracker set in Edwardian London, presented at the London Coliseum. The production follows Clara on a Christmas Eve that turns into a fantastical journey.

The production places the familiar story in Edwardian London, beginning on Christmas Eve with Clara and her mother shopping at Drosselmeyer's sweet shop. There Clara meets a Nutcracker doll, and the family returns home with confectionery such as liquorice allsorts, nougat, marzipan and sugarplums for their party guests. As the music and merriment carry on, Clara has a vision of sugarplums that leads into her adventure. She stands up to the Rat King to protect her home, and then comes upon an icy realm ruled by a Queen.

The second part of the story takes Clara to the Land of Sweets and Delights, where the Sugar Plum Fairy has arranged a celebration in her honour. The piece is a Christmas ballet and suits audiences looking for a seasonal family outing. The London Coliseum is a large theatre in the West End that hosts concerts and shows throughout the year.
